Stats SA reported the unemployment figure rose to 32.6% from the last quarter.
“One of the questions and concerns approaches many of our minds, the lockdown (increased lockdown) in the second quarter had an impact on the informal economy. How this will impact on livelihood strategies is not very clear.” Isobel Frye, Director of the Studies in Poverty and Inequality Institute (SPII) commented on the numbers before their release.
